Practitioners of the city

Walkers are 'practitioners of the city', for the city is made to be walked. A city is a language, a repository of possibilities, and walking is the act of speaking that language, of selecting from those possibilities. Just as language limits what can be said, architecture limits where one can walk, but the walker invents other ways to go.

that's such a nice way of putting it! there are a lot of visual artists (in special - at least, as far as I am aware of - photographers) who make a lot of studies about walking in the city. it's such a great theme. would give a great exhibition: "the practitioners of the city". this quote also made me think about Paul Auster... such a rich quote! :)

Happy you liked it Luisa. Yes, it could be a great theme for an exhibition.
Your urban photos are my favorites, they always possess a special spice in the atmosphere. I enjoy imagining the stories of people you captured on them:)
